Default Bear problem

We have a small black bear eating the corn we are putting out for the wild hogs. Is there a bait or method to attracts the hogs and not the bear. I have to assume he is keeping both deer and hog away.

Always an option, but the land owner doesn't want the bear dealt with...that efficiently or it would not an issue.

There is a commercial grape flavored bait that is put down for hogs in a hole in the ground. Drived the hogs crazy but the deer don't bother it.

Take a balloon, fill it partially with ammonia and blow it up.Rub something sweet on it like honey or syrup and tape it to something. The bear will pop it,get a face full of ammonia and will never come back.

That balloon deal sounds like it may be a neat, simple way to take care of the problem. Try it and let us know if it works!

We did something similar with ghost pepper hot sauce. Didn't scare the bear away. As a matter of fact, we put half a bottle of the stuff on a piece of pizza and the bear ate the whole thing. Bears will eat ANYTHING!!! They will take bee stings in the mouth for a drop of honey. The ammonia thing might scare them off for a day or two, but they'll be back for free food.

If you can't shoot it, you probably need to stop baiting until it moves on.
