Hunting - Where to Begin?
#12
If you are just starting out & don't know where to begin, my suggestion would be to find a mentor, lots of guys don't mind passing on their knowledge, provided the student is willing to learn and listen. If you have your own land, that's even more incentive for someone to come show you the ropes.
If this doesn't work out, and you can afford it, hire a reputable guide, and let him know you don't have much experience. A decent guide will help you cut the learning curve by years.
Good luck in your search!

You need a person to learn from.
Join a hunt/gun club or two, behave yourself, listen more-talk less, ask nicely.
If that doesn't work, hire a guide, behave yourself etc. Sometimes paid guides turn into friends.
It's ok to read lots, but you must get in the woods to "practice".
