So private land owners and goverment is limiting the ability to reduce the hog population effectively?
Yep, especially the government. There are lots of folks out there who are ready to hunt wild hogs but they are frustrated by the lack of a place to hunt. Can't hog hunt in the WMAs because the bureaucrats say so. Most of the farmland is leased out to hunters. Some of the owners do not allow hunting. There are those hog hunting ranches like the one at Pauls Valley but they cost big bucks.

i'm pretty lucky to own three parcels of marginal land: All have hogs: Boy, does one of those places have hogs. Problem is that all three places are some distance from our home. We do have permission to hunt several other properties.

same here i take between 100-150 hogs per year, i butcher 90 percent of the hogs, and use or give the meat to needy families, the other 10 percent are sold or used in training pups
i don't think you could drive hogs, when the dogs hit them they scatter like quail, last year or so the hogs have got to ruunnin alot more, chase some a mile or more before they can be bayed

Never mind, I found what WMAs are.
