Default Bagged a monster Axis!! Good story too!

Pretty crazy story. After coming up empty handed last weekend at a buddies ranch in Rocksprings, something really strange happened. I was literally in the process of packing my truck and saying bye to my buddies when I saw an axis walk by at about 300 yards. Me and my buddy walked down to to take a better look. We see this guy staring dead at us. I run full speed back to the lodge to grab a gun while my buddy kept his ground (having on tennis shoes helped!...lol). I low walk, crawl, and eventually belley crawl about 150 yards to a little rock pile. I slither over the top of the rock pile and he is still just standing there. I try to catch my breath (I am panting btw) I am nervous because he has three game fences between me and him. (he was behind a little fenced in water and windmill pin)I finally get my composure, say a prayer and squeeze off a round w my .308. He bucks and runs into the brush. I jump up with a fist pump and run back to my buddies who where watching the whole stalk from a couple hundred yards away. We high five, jump in the truck to go get the buck. The deer is 10 yards in the brush, laying down and completely alive! These axis are tough!! I slam another 165 grain bullet into his shoulder. That did it. What a day! Let me know what you think
