Killed the big boar evening before last using my .50 muzzleloader. This hog was deliberately hit high behind the shoulder, he went about 100 yards after being hit.

The sow was killed last evening using the same .50 muzzleloader. She was hit low just behind the shoulder: Her heart and lungs were destroyed-bang flop.

Just shoot him behind the fron shoulder or behind the ear.

shoot em right in the ear flap because the bullet will travel throught the flap and into the ear and into the brain.

A typical hogs brain is the size of a walnut, good luck with hitting it at 100yrds. If he is close draw am imaginary line from left ear to right eye then right ear to left eye and where these lines would intersect thats his brain. I have had to put down several old boars and brood sows on a farm and found this to be the quickest kill shot. At very short ranges a 17hmr with hornady Vmax would be a safe bet. At any distance over 50yrds I agree with the rest a neck or double lung is best.

Shoot them behind they ear and they all drop. 40 - 500 pounders...

head shot if you can make it, aim for the ear-- if not take a high shoulder shot, don't want to have to track a wounded pig, it could get u hurt
