Thumbs up Dropped another hog this morning!

My daughter and I went hoggin this morning and it was a successful hunt! This was her first hunting experience where we got something. She's at the point now to where she understands about being quiet. I bang-flopped this sow at 76 yards from a ground blind with my Endeavor. She was very excited and I think I have a new hunter in the family now. I just wish we weren't leaving for Japan so soon and I had the opportunity to get her shooting. But that's high on my priority list for things to do when we get back. Here's some pics...

Nice looking hog there SW, bringing her up right to. Thumbs up. I have only shot 3 hogs in my lifetime, 2 young boars about a hundred lbs and a sow about 125lbs. Do the big boars eat ok? I hear people say they are very strong to eat, just curious.

I haven't found them to be gamey, but they are very tough. Even the tenderloins are a little on the tough side. I guess if they were processed and allowed to age a bit, maybe they'd be better. But soaking them on ice for a few days hasn't really worked much for me.

My experience matches SWT's. The big guys taste fine, but they are tough. The last one I shot probably went close to 200 Lbs if not more. I couldn't drag it anywhere, and had to skin it on the ground and just took the legs and backstraps. I cooked some up and decided it was too tough, so I've been running it through my grinder. I use it just like ground beef, and it tastes the same as beef to me.
