Default wich gun for hogs?

I am going to Arkansas to hunt hogs and am interested in what gun would be best. I live in Alaska and most my guns are either longer range (270,220 swift, 223, 6mm ppc) or heavier calber (375 H&H, 458, 450 watts) I have a 350 Rem in the old short 6oo that I was thinking about taking. Anyone with a lot of experience with hogs at short ranges have suggestions?

I'd go with the .270. You won't need anything more than that as long as you make good shots.

Your .270 will do just fine.

With the right bullet, any of those would work. I use a .223 more often than not, but I reload and use Sierra Gamekings instead of the varmint bullets found in most .223 loads.

I'd take the 600, just because I've always loved this rifle. Most people didn't like the looks of it, but I think that it's cool as hell looking. I always wanted one in .243.

I don't think there's anything in the lower 48 that a .270 won't take care of. That's the gun I'd bring.

Here in L.A. (Lower Arkansas) I've used every thing from .22lr to a pick-up truck. lol Your 270 will be fine. Just make sure you have a tree to climb if nesscerary.

I highly recommend which ever caliber you have in a semi-auto. Experience has taught me that quantity of lead over quality of lead leads to more kills hog hunting. A black rifle in .223 or .308 is my personnel pref.
