West texas Hunting Opportunity
I am from Southern New Mexico and I may have a good opportunity to hunthogs in Motley County around Roaring Springs. Never been there so I know nothing about it. It is about 6.5 hours away and the question is...
Is it worth it to go?
What is the wildlife like in that area?
Thanks
Greg

I have hunted around Roaring springs and have helped out at a Youth camp there. I can tell you if your looking for hogs you will not be dissaponted. We are coverd up by hogs all along the caprock and need help getting ride of a few. My lease is south of Roaring Spings near Dickens and I have had a dozen or more pigs in a single trailcam frame. Only problem is there never there when I am. Deer and turkey are also coming into season if your a bow hunter. Good Luck.

And some are pretty good size. These were taken on my lease about 30 miles south of Roaring Springs. I have friends that hunt aroung roaring springs and they have seen pigs just as big and plentyfull. I have seen them up there as well.

I ride motorcycles through Matadore (town in Motley co.). I start in Knox City, ride up to Crowell, turn and head through Paducha, Motley Co., Floydada, Plainview, then down to Lubbock and back to Knox City. I also do some hunting in Spur and Dickens, which is south of Motley Co.. I also have a Cabin at White River lake, which is just south west of Motley co.. If you are asking if there are hogs, then yes, tuns. But like all hog hunts, you got to be there when they are moving. If its warm, you will probably not see many, they do not like to move in the heat. But yea, there are lots of hogs.

Thanks for the responces. I need to verify the license requirements for Hogs and Deer. I think Hogs don't require a license as long as they are considered destructive but i will probably get the 5 day ($45.00)permit anyway. Deer and Turkeys are the hard things to figure out for Non-Residents and I don't want to get caught doing something illigal because I didn't reseach it enough.
I'll let you know how it turns out...Hopelully with some pictures.
