I live in the Sacramento area and used to hunt hogs on public lands until I figured out I had a better chance of seeing Bigfoot than a hog on DFG Wildlife Areas. If you look at the statistics posted on the California DFG web site you will see that 95% of the hogs taken in California last year were killed on private lands. The only realistic way of actually getting a shot at a hog in California is to hire a guide that has access to private lands. It will cost $500 to $1000 for a two day hunt.

If you have access to a BLM map, we hunt hogs in the D8 area. There are also lots of hogs along the Pacific Coast Range from Hwy 46 north to Hwy 152 and between Interstate 5 and Hwy 101. That area is A Zone. Most is private, but there is some public land too. Good Luck!
