Default 44 Magnum?

I'm planning on going hunting here in South Florida, and so far the only i own at the moment that would be good for short range brush country is my Taurus 44 magnum. Only i'm unsure on what bullet type/weight to hunt with. I've seen Hornady's Leverolution ammo for the 44 in 225gr., I was thinking a Cast Lead bullet but with the Hornady loads i just found i thought those might be better.

Thanks for any info on this....this will be my first hog hunt so i'm hoping to actually find a hog and just maybe have the right ammo.

Thanks!

Ilike just about ant factory 240gr. flatnose for that kind of hunting.I have taken whitetail with at close range from my RSRH and they did well.

Thanks Dan, so when you say factory flat point does that mean JSP...At the moment i practice with 180gr. & 240gr. in a JSP, and they have flat tips. For what it's worth, i'm hoping to have maximum damage so not to trudge through the waters down here in florida to find the downed animal.

Any one of these have dropped hogs. It's a matter of shot placement.
Good Hunting

Dan,
Mineis a 9 1/2 " , The other is a 45 long colt with a 7 1/2 " and the S/S is a .22 Mag. 6 1/2". I even put the .22 long cylinder in and have killed hogs! I haven't tryed any APC's on the 45. I realy like Rugers, single and double action. they are all point and shoot guns. Come to Texas some day and we will go tomy lease, nosure thingon a shot. But we will eat good!!!!!

I would love to do that! Never been wild hog hunting and that would be a great harley ride.Maybe we could trade a coyote/bobcat hunt for a hog hunt.
