yea they tell us to here in trumbull county too. What happens is domestic pigs get out and get wild over a few years. I have seen them a couple times here in trumbull. but they are by no means "overpopulated or taking over" if I ever get a shot at one I will definately take it!(everytime I've see one I have my bow, and never close enough) I have seen them in PA too and missed one during deer season that came out on a drive. If you see on take it, it is good eating!

A few years ago i was driving from Dayton to Athens. Can't remember exactly where, but it seemed like when i was about halfway there I saw a sign advertising wild hog hunts. I would assume that most of them are gonna be found in the sparsely populated hilly counties or maybe some of thedeep river bottoms.

There have been a few similar reports here in Iowa. At one time there were good fences because the four farms on a section of land usually had pasturing livestock. The fences were designed for hogs. Now the fences are not being maintained or are coming down all together. Hogs have been reported in SW Iowa, and along the Des Moines River corridor in and near Des Moines. The Iowa DNR wants them shot, in addition to all of the environmental damage they do, they damage crops, and can spread deseases to confinement operations. So far Iowa has just enough for a few reports.
Ohio has more rough country than Iowa so I'm sure there are many more pigs there.
For those who think that it gets too cold for hogs, remember that the ancestors of our domestics were from Siberia. Two animals that I think will be troublesome over the next few decades are hogs, and trumpeter swans. The hogs in spite of future attempt to control them, and trumpeters because the tree huggers won't ever allow control.
