shot placement
I'm going boar hunting in a couple of weeks, and would like to know what I'm looking at as far as shot placement. I was told the vitals are up further on a hog.??ButI know that the shoulderis thicker as well.I've never hunted them before so I'm not sure. I will be using a 50 cal. knight long range hunter muzzleloader with a 245 gr. barnes sbt bullet, and 100 grains of 777. any info would be greatly appreciated

RE: shot placement
Go for a head shot. Especially if it is at night. Draw a line betweenthe corner of the eye and the bottom of the ear. That's where you want to hit. Drops them in their tracks. If you are hunting at night, go get yourself an Optronis 300 yd. red light system to mount on your scope. It's a must for night hunting.

RE: shot placement
Head shot are great they will knock a hog down in a heart beat.
Don't worry about the shoulder being tough. Yes they have grissle build up for protection but they aren't bullet proof. You load of choice will drop a hog fast if yo hit the vitals and the vitals are larger then the brain.
