Hello everyone, going on a Ram hunt and not sure which gun to take, the owner says that the shot will be between 50-110 yards. I have a .270 browning as well as Marlin 336ss in 30-30. Which one guys?

The .270 has the better ballistics and at 110 yards that would make it a better choice than the 30/30. Either one will do a number on a ram.... IMHO

Thanks, I was personally leaning towards the .270, now as far as shot placement, should I aim for the shoulders?

Either will work. Id go with the 270. Reason being, if you have to reach out and touch one, it will be a flater shooting round. Also, as already mentioned, better ballistics. Only rams Ive ever hunted have been audads and 150 to 200 yards is about the normal shot. Ive always taken my 300wby or 30.06

Welcome to the forum Papo!

Papo, I took a Spike Elk and a Muley in CO on the same day using a Ruger M77 .270 150gr NP and over 200yds.

The .270 is more than capable of doing the job and the .30-30 with the New Hornady Ammo will also, but would stay under 225yds with the .30-30.
