Default Weapons for hogs

What is the most widely accepted weapon of choice for hog hunting? Is my 50 cal muzzleloader stuffed with a 348 grain hollow point and packed with 100 grains of pyrodex good enough? What about 12 gauge slug gun pushing a 1 1/4oz Winchester Gold Partition slug gonna do it? Need something my 9 year old can shoulder and still stay in the stand when it kicks.

I would get a youngster a 243, have the stock cut to fit and it will work..

All those will work fine. Like Rev mentioned, 243s are a great choice. There is a member here, Guess is his name, he takes lots of hogs with a 243. Another good kids gun, a 44 mag cabin. My niece uses one for deer, hogs, and goats.

what you stated is more than enough, any caliber from 223 up will do the trick. but shot placement is a must. here is a link. i only bowhunt for them.

Any one of the ones you mentioned as said before shot placement is a must.

A .25-06 ora .243 would be a nice start. Personally, I use a .223 more times than not. But I handload, and there isn't a lot of factory ammo out there with decent game bullets.

Does anybody use handguns? I recently purchased a Ruger Blackhawk..... .357 mag and was gonna try it out on a hog after I get one with my bow.
