I would get a youngster a 243, have the stock cut to fit and it will work..
Yep!With Sierra 100gr Game Kings!
Yup....sierra is the best....try .223 in 77 grain match king! Work like a charm.

best of luck
I prefer the 55 grain Game Kings.

I prefer Razorcap 100 gr. broadheads on 425 gr. Gold Tips out of a Black Widow 64# @ 27". Put that broadhead in the crease behind the shoulder and low and you've got the Official Fast Food of Tennessee down and in the cooler.

Or get a youth model that already has a short stock. For bolt actions, when the kid grows up, you can buy an adult sized stock and swap them out. That's what I plan to do with my son's Model 7.

rtread I've used my Ruger Super Redhawk in 41mag. It did the trick, but all I shot at was BBQ size that day.

RTREAD. . . .you asked about a .357mag round. . . .You may not get the same volocity I get when I shoot 185Gr. .357 through my browning level action but at the short ranges you would need or want to be at it would work. . .

I have taken a few with that gun but always at less than 30 yards crawlin up on them in the grass. . .gets your heart pounding when a 200 pounder finaly sees me layin there. Just tell em to say cheese and let em rip.
