Please do not use a mechanical unless you are shooting 75lbs plus. Hogs have alot of fat and close up holes easily.
Just make sure to take good shots. I have taken many, many hogs with mechanicals and no problems. I shot everything from my 70lb compounds, 65 lbs compounds, 60 lb recurve, and 52lb recurve. If you stay out of the shield, keep the shot low, and use a small cut diameter, you will have no problem. I have not had one problem with any mechanical Ive used. Actually, I have not used anything but mechanicals for the past 6 years.

I shot this guy 5 months ago withmy old Herters recurve which is52 lb @ 28". It was a little over a 35 yards shot. I took it with a nap shockwave. He ran all of 20 yards and piled up. He was right at 300lbs.

Mechanicals have saved us loosing pigs plenty of times. The expandable actually rips the flaps better there by allowing the blood to continue to flow. Fixed blades are good when you have less cover. Heavy cover , you need blood fast and real fast. Fixed or mechanical, is a question of how tough they are for the hide and bone. Like Burnie said, shot placment is key.

Has anyone ever used the Slick Trick broadhead? They look really well built, and looks like they will penetrate very well. The reviews say they will fly straight and penetrate deep. I have heard the muzzy's have a tendency to fly eradically on some setups.
If I was going to use it, I would these.

4 BLADE
.035" SS
1-1/8" DIAMETER

One Piece
Steel
Rhinoferrule

SLICKTRICK 125

Shot placement with a sharp blade is the key. Fixed or mech. I use Montecs, but am thinking I may try the new Rage head.

Out of the fixed heads, I really like the muzzy 3 blades. That and the slick tricks. I also liked the sonic fixed head.
