Default Grahams Turnout Success!

Hey Guys,

I just got back from a Hog Hunt at Grahams Turnout in South Carolina. It was awesome. The guy that runs the place, Randy, is first class and does everything he can to make sure you have a great trip. My father in Law took a hog and I took two hogs. We had made a decision before we went to take "eating" hogs and not big trophies. The hogs we took wieghed 105,135, and 155 lbs. I took one with a rifle and the 2nd with my bow. This is a first class operation and I will go back. The deer on the property were huge and he has a combo hunt in the fall for deer and hogs. Just wanted to share a little about the trip. I was riding in the back of the pickup to pick up my father in law aftera morning hunt. Randy slowed down and peered into the swamp. He then raised his glasses and whispered for me to grab my bow and come around to the front of the truck. He had spotted a hog bedded down in the swamp and though that I could put a stalk on this hog. I nocked an arrow and slowly started toward the hog. The ground was real sandy and great for sneaking up. I was approaching the 30 yard mark when the hog sensed something wrong and looked up. I froze and waited on him. He could not pick me out of while I was frozen, but got up and shook and then turned toward the trail I was on. I came to full draw and waited for him to get to the trail. It would have been a broadside shot at what I thought was about 20 yards. The second he got on the trail he turned and headed directly away from me. I thought that it was done and he would make it to the swamp without me taking a shot. He then made a mistake. Randy saw what was happening and whistled from the truck. The hog stopped, turned and looked back at the truck 50 yards behind me. I let the 100 grain muzzy fly and that was all she wrote. It was really a rush and my first hog with my bow. The smoker will be lit tommorrow morning. The picture with the two hogs are the ones that I took. The bigger hog is the one I took with my bow. That is my father in law with his hog in the other picture. They are not too big, but they will eat great. Just so you know, we did pass up on a couple of bruisers. I had a lone boar under me that was in the 300lb range. They smell when you cook em'.
