Default Waccamaw Anyone?

Hey Guys,

Any of you guys ever try Waccamaw Hunting Lodge in Hemingway, SC? I am thinking of going there in Febuary to hunt Hogs and wondered if anyone has ever had an experience there. I know that the won the North Amer. Hunt Clubs "Outfitter of the Year" award. Thanks for the help.

I'm going there the first weekend of Feb.
It will be my first time boar hunting and the first time using an outfitter.
I've e-mailed and spoke to the owner, Rick, and I like what I've heard.
I will post my opinions of the hunt when I get back.
Good luck to you.

I've hunted there five times. Rick Grubbs runs a first class operation. No fences, all wild born, free ranging animals. This is real hunting.I took this buck in Oct. of '03. http://www.huntinglodge.net/images/deer004.jpg. The accomodations are very nice also. Check out the reviews here http://www.huntinfo.com/reviews/outfitter_reviews.php3?outfitter_search=&state _filter=s&submit_action=Go.

I just got back from a 2-day hunt at Waccamaw. I had a great time, the other hunters made me quite welcome and the owner/operator - Rick Grubbs was very professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. He truely runs a honest hunt for free ranging hogs on private property. He sets you up at a stand site that will fit your needs and shooting abillities. There were no gaurrantees, and that is what I wanted. You are at the mercy of the pigs. If they don't want to move for some reason, then you will not see them.
The first evening I spotted a small boar at last light - it was 6:10pm. I had to shoot now or it would be too dark. I shot and took a 40 to 50 pound boar. This was my first boar and i am very proud of it. (see attached pic.)
Another guy took a 150 pound sow (seenext pic).
Rick picked up the hogs and cleaned and skinned them and placed them in a walkin cooler for us.
Rick also provided us with a very nice and comfortable lodge for our stay.
(see pic's).
I will definatly book another hunt with Rick.
I hope this helps motivate others to give it a try.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Warren
