We Catch them year round and sell them. There is a local buying yard around here, but come to find out they have closed their yard for the time being.

You wouldn't have to wait that long bro. They breed like rabbits. You could have50 hogs or morewithin2 years time. You really don't want them unless all you like to do is hog hunt. They give the deer a hard time, but the deer will learn how to adapt to them.

They can breed at an early age.Down here it is common for an ole mama hog to have 30-60lb pigs, and be pregnant again. She could have 3-12 pigs(usually 6 or so).A sow's gestation period is around 115 days.It only takes 12 weeks for the pigs to be weaned.Ahog is mature enough to breed at6 months old,but generally doesn't untilthey are 1year old.Usually in a healthy environment they will breed 2 times a year. They don't have a rut.

Math class...Pregnant sow+boar=6 pigson average.Usually 1/2 male..1/2 female pigs.In 6 months...

3females+mama get pregnant

Mama+Boar+3...1 year old males+3...1 year old females+24 pigs(6 from each female)=32 hogs in one years time..

When those femaleshave a litter...
Mama+Boar
+3...2yr old males
+3...2yr old females
+12..1year old males..
+12..1year old females, and then all the females litters at 6 each on average..

16 females would mean 16x6=96 pigs

So 96 pigs,16 mature females,and 16 mature males=128 hogs

In a 2.5 year period. That's underestimatimng with only 3 breeding cycles.Have a ball you would indeed! And you'd be asking rebel hog to bring a dog,and help catch them out.;)

Yes you have to take in consideration natural death,hunting,highways...but you see where you could have a serious problem.
