You might be right, I am not sure how well their eye sight is. Im simply going off of my assumption. I guess it would be better to say they appear to be near sighted. I have walked up on them standing up right and they did not bolt until I got pretty close. They could simply not care and have not been exposed to the dangers of humans. I could be wrong, I have never read any scientific reports about them. It would be interesting to find out how well they do see.

Rebel Hog posted some facts about hogs on another thread and this was on there
"Hogs have small eyes and poor eyesight. "
How ironic.

Burnie, I don't think it's a Scientific Fact!

Once while walking to my stand about 5:00 AM I flushed about 6 hogs. Two adullts and 4 piglets. I had just shot a sow at the same place a week ago. Any way I was on a fireline when the 6 pigs came across. I had a flashlight in one hand in a 12 guage in the other. My light was on the pigs and a piglet froze about 2 inches from my foot. It was about 14 inches long. Finally it ran to keep up with ma ma. Obviously did not see me. This year in archery a lone young pig walked under my stand ..around 5:00AM then it stopped and sniffed upwards and got out fast. I was about 14 feet up the tree with no wind blowing .Awesome smellers.
