I gave it a good shake and boiled the part and applied 6 applications (boiling each time) to the trigger guard of this old Stevens.

Old skull & crossbones stuff might be kind of toxic... but most of us reasonable folks would not attempt to drink it! LOL. It sure did the job!!!

Yes, it contains mercuric cholride. Dont drink or even breath deep the fumes. Open the windows. Its still being sold as Arts Belgian blue. He got the recipe from Herters and is selling it through Midway and his own site.

You can get it from Brownells too, claims to be the "original Herter's Belgian Blue formula." Does that mean it still contains mercuric cholride? Nasty stuff!

Yes it does. Its the same recipe and still contains the mercuric chorlide. Be smart and use with caution and there will be no worries.

I susspect it would be on par with the other blues I used. Its still essentially a cold blue even tho the parts are warmed. I cant verify these comments without doing an evaluation like I did with the other blues.

I just used the arts Belgian blue on an old fn mauser rebarrel ive been working on took a lot more than 6 applications but results were great couldn't have asked for more in a home blue job.
