Question Duracoat clear over krylon???

I have my new savage axis in 270 and i want to camo the stock. I was wanting to do a acu digital camo like the troops wear. I cant afford to pay $40 for a 'Duracoat Camopak' at the moment, and i krylon makes a good line of camo spray paints. So i was wondering, if i did a digital pattern with the krylon camo, and went over it with duracoat matte clear, how durable would it be?

Worth a try !!!

Just take your time taping up the areas you don't want to get any on.

Only spray light coat at any one time, after that dries spray another light coat.

Let us know how it comes out.......................

dont expect the duracoat to make the finish tougher. the softer finish is under so it will be prone to chips and wear. duracoat clear can also lift (burn through) a painted finish. i would try the duracoat clear sealant. you can find sites that you can print your own stencils.if your gonna stay cheap krylon matte clear works well. i just wouldnt expect the duracoat clear over krylon to help toughen the whole finish. you really need to use duracoat on a alum oxide sand blasted or parked gun for it to work well.

Here's a simple digital using bigger blocks of contrasting color I did with Krylon. After spraying the pattern I finished it up with flat clear Valspar. It holds up well. I also do Duracoat and Cerakote, is it as good as that, no it's not but it's alot cheaper and easier to apply.

X2 on the valspar flat clear. it is extremely dull and works well with all enamel paints and is a lot tougher than the krylon matte clear. lowe's carries it, since they carry the valspar line of paint.
