I have a Winchester .270 and was wondering if there is any simple way to prevent the rifle from accidentally loading 2 rounds at once when I pull back the bolt. It would be unpleasant to have the gun explode in my face. Any suggestions?

I am no gunsmith but I do shoot thousands of rounds a year through a handgun and never have double feeds. So from my limited experience if you gun is doing this you have some type of issues that need to be fixed. Take it to get worked on as I don't think there is something you can do (as far as how you are handeling the gun) to make it stop, it should not be doing this.

Only one cartridge can fit in the chamber at once. unless your extractors broken I dont see how a cartridge could be loaded behind a live chambered one which is the only way I could imagine the gun blowing up from a feeding problem

IMO your problem lies with the magazine> the "lips" of the mag are not holding the second shell in place allowing it to pop up behind the first shell The gun will not fire but it is still not a desireable thing> have a gunsmith look at it before you take it out again or use it as a single shot only
