RE: Bases and Rings
I just got a new pair of Talleys today. I went with the Quick Detachable rings in screw lock. Talk about a work of machining art. I can say with confidence they are the most precisely machined rings I have ever seen.
The moment I slipped them around my scope, (remember they are verticle split rings), they matched the scope tube so perfectly they didn't even require the screws to be installed to hold themselves around the scope tube. I will post some pics when I mount them... ![]() |

RE: Bases and Rings
Found my first set of defective Leupold rings. A set of Low STD gloss rings. One was completely out of round. I coulnd't get the top of the rings on. I was going to just bend it in place and use my wheeler kit to lap the crap out of em. But I said screw that, why should i.
Very disappointing. |

RE: Bases and Rings
If you want sleek good looking bases and rings Id go with S&K or if you dont mind the look of a tactical type mount then I would have to say badger ordnance or GG&G. A friend of mine who is a SWAT sniper and is also an ex marine swears by GG&G mounts and rings they also happen to be the same mounts and rings used by the Marine corps DMR program. me personally have never had any trouble with Leupold or redfield rings and bases which most of my rifles have on them. good luck
