with the savage vs remington. go savage with the new accu- trigger. the way the savages shoot right out of the box why pay anymore than needed.

I would also agree probably to go for the Savage. But there is nothing wrong with the Remington, either. Both would serve you well so long as you put a good scope on it. Be prepared to plunk down some more $$$ to get a good scope.

If you are not saving pelts as you said, I would look no farther than the .243

personally I have a Remington, but would not mind a new Savage w/ an accu-trigger.
