Briman, how many wars have you been in? How long were you in Country?
For your information all the Armed forces did not use the same sniper weapons.
I have noticed that you are very Dogmatic and to you alot of things are "BS".

Be careful using this term about our hunting rifles - the antigun crowd has come up with the term "intermediate sniper rifle" which seems to mean anything with a scope.

i guess i better clarify what i meant by "Opportunity to show off"

i was in no way condoning far out 800 yard shots or anything of the sorts.
i was simply giveing others (and myself if i can figure out how to load my picture) a chance to show some of the heavy barreled rifles that may be used in hunting.
i recently bought a remington 700 in 308 with a 24" R5 barrel for hunting deer/elk. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, it's a little heavy to drag up and down the mountains, but its sure nice to know if you set up on a ridge that that you know where the shot is going to go.
the last rifle i had (browning blr in 308) had good days and bad days and i just couldnt trust it so i bought this.

It's funny that you talk about snipers. The land owner of one of our leases decided that he was going to take his sons deer hunting the first week of the season. One son is a police sniper. The land owner was telling us that he brought his sniper rifle, a scope that would go up to 24X, range finder, etc... Said he shot at a doe at 80 yards twice and missed!

Hey Rebel Hog, I like those M-1Ds. I actually got to shoot one of those on a 600 meter range when I was a young infantry 1LT. Nice rifle, wish I had one. [&:]
