I was thinkg more on the 3855 but no noting about the cal. as far as how it wood be a deer rifle .

I have the H&R Buffalo Classic. It comes in the 3855 as well. It is the parent case you might say to the 375 Winchester. It is a 375 caliber. The Lyman manual show it shooting a 255 grain bullet at about 1750 fps. The Problem with the H&R is that the guys who own them have trouble finding jacketed bullets that fit the H&R bore which tends to run a little large, like in the 370-380 range. It no problem finding cast bullets that work though. There are some good reduced loads for the 45-70 which can tame it down and still be good for deer and hiogs. Load it up and it will take any game on earth. You could buy the Classic in 45-70 then for about 115 dollars you can add the 3855 barel or any number of other calibers.
13.0 grains of Unigue with the 405 grain bullet in the 45-70 is a mild load (1100) fps. with a magnum primer. No fillers needed and it a consistant load. If you decide to get one I have quite a few good loads for them.
