How many calibers?

Thought this would be interesting. How many different calibers do you shoot a year?Just made a list of this for myself and came up with 14 dofferent calibers that I try to get around to shooting once a year.Lots of fun but no wonder I am going broke.

RE: How many calibers?

I currently handload for;

.45 ACP
.45 Colt
.454 Casull
.22-250 Rem
.234 Win
7mm STW
.300 WSM

I also shoot, but don't handload, 9mm Luger and .22LR (obviously).

I also have an assortment of .50cal muzzleloaders, some of which get shot more than others.

My next gun purchase will be a S&W 460XVR revolver OR a T/C Encore in .460 S&W Mag. Haven't decided for sure yet. I'm going to wait until the 460XVR hits the shelves before I decide, hopefully by the end of July. S&W is working the bugs out of the gun now.

I reload for and shoot 45 ACP, .223 Remington, .30-06 and 8mm Mauser. I also shoot a .22, a 12 gauge shotgun, and a .50 Caliber Muzzle loader. I don't reload for the 12, as I don't shoot it enough to make it worth while, though, if I get a bird dog, which I am trying to do, I may start reloading for the 12 as I get into more bird hunting.

This isn't fair since I reload for alot of friends around here. First....nearly all common pistols. rifles: .17 rem, 220 swift, 223, 243, 257, 270, 7x57, 280 rem, 7mm08, 7mm STW, 7 mag, '06, 30-30, 300WM, 8x57mm, 8mm'06 and 35 whelen. Whew!!!! 7x57 is my favorite followed by '06 followed by 243 and 8x57. I reload more 243 than any other cartridge....only critters and WTD here in Northcentral, MO. Not many ultra mags yet thank God. Regards, Rick.

Thanks fellows I thought that would be a fun question.I am retired now since 1996 and spend a day a week at the range some times 2 0r 3 days weather permitting.I have been reloading now for 50 + years and sure do have fun shooting.
If I could afford it I would have many more calibers to play with. With those long list some of you must be retired too.So you know how much fun I have.
The best to all of you and shoot straight.

My last day was 10/31/95, so we're about even there. I don't shoot as many different rounds as I used to. I financed some of my hunts by buying clunkers at gun shows, tunin' and sprucin' 'em up and resellin' 'em. Now I'm reduced to .22, .260, 20 gauge, smokeless .36 and .50 muzzys. I don't load for the handguns any more, I can buy practice ammo cheaper, and nobody oughta use reloads for self defense. :D

Mybigredford,
I'm assuming that a 338-375 is a 338 cartridge on a 375 H and H case? Wow! Sounds interesting. Let us know how that one turns out.:D

mybigredford 04-19-2005 12:32 PM

RE: How many calibers?

yeah i am not sure what exactly it is, i guy a work with has a buddy thats selling it and my co worker says that its a 338 that shoot two different types of ammo, now i wasnt sure about that but what i found was a gun listed as a 338/375,(or maybe it was 338/357) so like you said i am assuming that it is a 338 in a 375 (357) casing, anyways i am anxious to check it out and see what it really is. all i know is that the gun is a weartherby, and it is brand new, never had a full box of shells ran through it yet. oh yeah apparantly it knocks you on your ass, lol, i will let you know what happens.

mybigredford 04-19-2005 12:36 PM

RE: How many calibers?

hey i found at weatherby's web site that they have a gun listed as
.338-378, so that must be the one my co worker was talking about. man i cant wait to check it out!!!

SWAMPMAN 04-19-2005 12:51 PM

AHHHHHH. 338/378. Weatherby's had that one a while. It will deliver a wallop. Good luck!
