There are three main reasons I went with the 300 WSM over the 300 SAUM. The first is that Ruger chambered the WSM and second my Barnes and Nosler books both had the 300 WSM data, the Nosler book had twice that data for the WSM than it did for the SAUM. The third reason is that the WSM was a bit more powerful than the SAUM.

I doubt that the Remington versions will be around long unless they hit a breakthrough of some kind that gives them an advantage like a new rifle design or a new casing or powder that would give them an edge. Remington is great for dumping thei own creations. Always have been. The only thing that is a bit of a suprise is that the model Seven, being a light weight and popular rifle didn't take off in the short mag cartridges.
