Default savage 99 authority

Need help finding info on a Savage 99. Have tried the web sight, and several other places.
My problem is that my 99 was made in 1941 according to the serial #. The # on the receiver matches the one on the fore end, the # on the butt stock and butt plate match each other but not the receiver.
Their #'s indicate they were also made in 1941 and the #'s are less than 800 from being the same as the receiver.
I had the gun sold but the buyer said that the butt stock had been replaced sometime during it's life and backed out on the deal.
I think it came from the factory that way since the numbers are so close and the stock matches the butt plate and year of manufacture.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
