I found a new 700 Remington .300 Ultra Short Mag. I don't like the factory bullet options. So I was thinking about having it rechambered to the .300 WSM. They have the 700 .300 ultra short mag for $449.00 new . Any thoughts on this idea

Don't know if a conversion will work.
Even if it's possible it will cost more than just buying a WSM. I wouldn't pay $449 for a rifle in a chambering I don't want, when I can spend either the same or a little more a get a chambering that I do want.

Why in the world would you bother converting this rifle..it is a fine cartridge and rifle combination ?. If your concerned about brass or ammo buy 500 pieces of brass and your set. I have had/have 3 300 wsms and love the cartridge and a friend has a 300 saum in a sendero like custom rifle . That 300 saum is one sweet cartridge.

The Remington 700 SPS is a good gun but it was a stupid idea....
Why remington had to quit making a perfectly good rifle and spend all the money to start the SPS line of rifles, I dont know because they could have saved alot of money by just putting a hinged floor plate on the ADL synthetic.
That hinged floor plate is the ONLY difference between the SPS and ADL synthetic.
