I've been looking at the different derringer pistols for awhile now. I am leaning towards the Cobra 38 special or Cobra 22mag. Anyone have experiance with the cobra? I have shot a few Derringer's, dont want a big cannon in this configuration. The 45/410 was a beast, prefer something easier to handle, plus smaller to carry. Looking for a Derringer that is light, small, and easy to carry. Any opinions??

you ever look at kel tecs pocket pistols? they are about the same size as most derringers ive seen or used but hold 7 rounds in the mag in their 32 acp design and 6 in the mag in their 380 and 9mm configuration. they are much lighter in wieght then any derringer ive held too. as for derringers i have not seen any manufacturers punching out derringers in about 10 years other then texas deffender.

I'd go with HDW on this one. I don't think I'd carry a derringer when there's good pocket pistols out there. KelTec, Kahr, and even the compact Beretta's in .22 or .32 would be a better choice IMHO.

If you're willing to go with a 22mag, take a look at the mini-revolvers from NAA or find a used one from Freedom Arms. They're both much smaller than the derringer and are five-shot revolvers. If you're wanting more punch than the 22mag, I"ll second what wolf and highpower said, Kel-tech, Kahr and Beretta all make a fine small auto.

Forget a Derringer, Beretta makes a nice small pocket pistol in 22LR. It's the Model 21A. Stainless Steel. It has the flip up barrel.
