RE: Pre-64, Pre ban...

and one other thing on the AR pre ban list was a bayonet lug!! I dont understand all of the reasons why they banned some of that stuff, as if me having or not having a bayonet on my gun would deter me from using my assault rifle in an illegal way???
Man, where have you been? Didn't you read about the rash of convienience store clerks and school children bayonetted to death just before the ban went into effect?!

Oh, me neither! ;) [8D]

Oh, and another banned feature was a grenade launcher attachment...'cuz we all know that the grenade launcher is the preferred weapon for gang bangers and enraged soccer moms, don't ya know! [8D]:D

"Pre-ban" refers to any weapon or accessory made prior to the enactment of the 1994 "Assault Weapons" Ban, which were "grandfathered" in and remained legal when identical items made after the ban would be illegal. I quess that not the that stupid law has gone the way of the dodo that we are now living in the post-post-ban era (or something like that), when all the stuff that was illegal to make six months ago, but legal ten years and six months ago, are all suddenly legal again.

Umm... 1964, and yes the flash supressor reduces the amount of muzzle flash that can be seen.
They are used mainly on short barreled, high velocity weapons, where the flash can be quite extreme.
The flash suppressor was designed to hide the flash from the shooter, it don't have a whole lot of effect on anybody else. Its an attempt to keep the shooter's night vision intact.
