I have the Simmons Aetec scope and find it to be very well made for the price. It’s a nice clear scope with an exceptionally long eye relief. For the price you can’t go wrong.

About 2 years ago I spent $780.00 on a Leupold Vari-X III scope. Was it worth it ? ......Hell no. In all honesty, I bought it for the name. Just so I could show it off at the camp w/ the thick GOLD ring.It was all about ego. 2 years have made me wiser. I still believe in having quality optics but I also have learned to drop the ego and realize quality scopes can be bought for far less $$.

I called Simmons today. They said the new scoped should start hitting the stores about April 1st. So you can look for some clearence deals on the old aetecs in the next few weeks.

razormatt my post was directed at Goose who mentioned a Burris Sign scope and the price of this scope is the same as a Conquest, merely mentioning the Zeiss based on my experience was better scope for $$$ and should be considering if the Burris Scope was an option. The only reason I posted was in this regard and believed it would worth consideration for Goose (in this case). I mentioned I have no experience with the Aetec so anything I would say would be hersay or ignorance on my part. I personally value advise/opinions from persons who have actually used or compared products.

Skeeter,I agree with you.......95% of eye doctors use a Zeiss lense on thier equipment.
Every time you get your eyes checked........it's with a ZEISS lense.
Most more expensive Sony Digital Cameras use Zeiss lenses....

I think its a nice design and should be an improvement over the old one but remember one thing optical glass is expensive very expensive if its good and that adds to a scopes cost

I'll just go ahead and repeat most of the same. I have an Aetec on a Win 70 7mm Rem. Mag. and have zero problems with it. I was a little hesitant to buy it, but based on a lot of research and many opinions form all kinds of boards I decided to give it a try.....glad I did. It's a little bigger than I need, but it looks good on the rifle and it re-zeros with no problem. The doe I shot last year at 250 paces took a bullet to the heart and I didn't have to think about my rifle's accuracy. I would definetly put another Aetec on my rifles.
