ORIGINAL: Ruger-Redhawk

On my #1 I hate to admit it ,it has a Simmons 44 mag scope. I had no problem with the eye relief. It was on the rifle when I made the trade. This is my first Simmons. He shot probaly between 80- 100 rounds thru this 45/70 and it's held up so far. These were hot loads. I wouldn't hesitate taking this rifle on any hunt. It's a tack driver.

The biggest Con is the price.

I see many of them used for sale around here. Trouble is they are mostly 220 swift and 7MM Rem Mag. I do see a few 45-70 ones used. Again the price is usually more than almost any new rifle in the store. I have had two of them. One I got a good buy on because it was a special order for a 416 Rigby and when it came in it was a 416 Rem Mag. The guy didn't want it so I bought it 50.00 under the dealers cost. The other I bought off a guy who needed some money quick and was willing to sell it cheap. About half of what he paid for it. Don't get me wrong, I love the NO l, I have had several NO 3's as well. However when it comes down to shooting them, my NEF rifles shoot just as well and I can buy three and a half of them for the price of the Ruger. I love my Ruger pistols and M77 rifles but the No l is over priced IMO

So James B (gosh, you have luck at finding things!), how does the NEF trigger compare to the Ruger #1 trigger? I'm looking at the 22 Hornet round (but I may go back to the 223) but I don't want to spend big bucks.

I noticed Winchester is selling 223 ammo for CXP2 game. The bullet was 64 grains as I recall. The 224 bullet line has sure changed since I reloaded them!
