I'm with others. 10 years old is a little young for a 30-30,12ga etc.It would do him allot better shooting a 22LR.Until he becomes more familiar with firearms in general.As mentioned flinching is a hard habit to break.Shooting bigger stuff is bound to get him to flinch.You know your little brother where we don't.He might be capable of handling these guns.You have to be the judge.If it were me a nice BA or single shot 22 would be in order.
