40 S&W in 10mm Revolver?

Can you fire 40S&W ammo in a 10mm revolver? I know that the 40 is just a 10mm case shortened. I would think this would be like firing 45 colt in a 454.

Thanks,

IMO if the gun uses moon clips it would work .
I would call the gun maker and ask.
If they say ok ,make sure that you clean the chambers so that the 10mm ammo would chamber .

If the cases head space on the case mouth then NO

Since it's a rimless cartridge I would say no. It headspaces on the mouth of the case.Like mentioned if it uses half or full moon clips it would work fine.

Yes, you can as long as you use moonclips.

I have run some .40's through my 610's.

There is a very good 10mm site at www.10mmtalk.com. You should drop in.

In the 610 you absolutely can shoot either just as you can shoot 38 shells in a 357 mag. I have had two 610 revolvers They use moon clips and one of mine shot much better with the 40 S&W than the 10 MM. They are the most accurate revolver that I ever laid hands on.
