I'm looking for the on that can take down any N.A. game, but the MOST COMMON one... I'm thinking the most common high power caliber that can take down any game in North America is a 30.06, but I might be wrong... Thanks for the help |
RE: Okay, big game question having to deal with guns.

RE: Okay, big game question having to deal with guns.
30-06 would be the MOST common/popular round for what you're looking at, followed
VERY closely by the 308Win., and then the 7mmRem.Mag. |
RE: Okay, big game question having to deal with guns.
Without a doubt, the 30-06.It has taken EVERY north american game animal, and most other game from around the world. From squirrels to grizz,it does them all.Plus ammo is cheap can be found everywhere that sells ammo.

RE: Okay, big game question having to deal with guns.
There is a reason my name is so typical...
Any questions? And I second the guy who posted that every big game animal in North America has been taken with my rifle, a Remington Model 700 BDL. BTW, I just called Remington the other day and learned that this one was made in 1973. It was so basically clean-looking at the pawn shop that I thought it was only a couple years old. Must have languished in a closet for decades. Shoots VERY well. |
RE: Okay, big game question having to deal with guns.
.300 Win. Mag. Good luck.

Since squirrel huntin' is a short range proposition, I'm takin' my .35 Remington on my next foray. [8D]

RE: Okay, big game question having to deal with guns.
7mm Rem. Mag. and 300 Win. Mag. will do the job on all big game species, EXCEPT for the dangerous game. The big bears, like brown, Grizz and kodiak. When you go hunting for these critters you could be the hunted not the hunter. Many if not all outfitters for this animal require at least 338 Win. Mag. The most popular is the 375 H&H Mag. with 270 gr. for the first and second shots with a 300 gr. solid as backup. Your guide will probably be carrying a 458 Win. Mag. or better as a last chance solution.[:-]
