the T/C Encore is one exception to the rule of dry firing a modern fire arm... the return spring on the firing pin is not exceptionally strong and repeated dry firing can cause it to break or deform that it doesn't move the firing pin back out of the breech face... thus causing damage when the gun is broken open... always use a snap cap when dry firing a Encore, for your "baby's" sake...
