Shot a big muley doe at about 100 yards. I heard the bullet hit and the deer disapeared. When I got my eye back to the scope there was just a cloud of snow in the air and some legs kicking in the air. The bullet went just under the spine and it was flat on the deck. 115 grain Ballistic tip at 2930 fps. Love the aetec scope. I believe they will soon be on all of my serous rifles.

James as cold as it is out there I figure the deer was probably frozen when ya pulled the trigger...lol. How do ya stand to hunt in that stuff? You could probably let that thing hang till Juvember without thawing. You tryin to talk me into one of those Aetecs...lol.

BTW, have you ever tried a VX-1? I had a couple Simmons 44 mag scopes and they aren't bad still have one on my muzzleloader. But I bought a VX-1 and it is amazing. It was around $200 but the eye relief seems about twice the 44 mag and the clarity is great. You can detect the subtle color shifts in moss on a tree at 100 yards. I never spent $200 on a scope before but after I got the VX-1 I bought another. I can only imagine a VX III must be something.

Believe it or not, but the Aetec is a better scope than the Leupold VX-I, and is certainly a much better value by a long shot. Leupolds are decent scopes if you don't mind paying more for less. They are not, IMO, worth what they want for them. I'm not going to pay $200 for a scope that doesn't even have fully multi-coated optics.
James,
Congrats on the rifle's first deer. Nothing like filling up the freezer with a nice tasty doe!

Congrats! Used my brother's 25-06 when I went home last month. Managed to take a small buck (one antler broken off) at 150 yards. Deer went no more than 30 yards and fell in his tracks. Great rifle. Intend to pick one up for myself when I get back to the States.
