help on a 300 win
 

I could use a little help. A couple years ago, I bought a 300 win mag in a Remington 700 BDL DM(detachable magazine). I thought the magazine would come in handy but have found it impossible to keep free of lint, etc. Everytime I have needed to plug in in quick, it jams. I have also found the bolt action to be sticky. I am going to sell it and start over. Any advice on what brand to go with? I would like to keep it around $600.

well for $734 you could get a Browning A-blot hunter in either a .300 win mag or .300 WSM. I am partial to Browning but they are very well made rifel and shotguns. they have detacable magazine but My brother inlaw has never had trouble with it. the action is smooth and has a shot bolt through. heres a link its a great looking rifle.

I have the 300 in both Ruger and Winchester and can't complain about either one . They would both are under your price range of 600 bucks .

both of mine are ruger#1's, great guns. I've also had a Ruger M77, a Win. model-70, all 300Win. mags. no complaints about any of em.

If you want a detatchable mag try the Tikka.All tikka rifles must shoot 1" groups before leaving the factory according to the Beretta USA website.It sounds like you want a magazine that is quick to install and browning magazine system is very slow compared to other systems because it combines a removeable magazine with a floorplate.

Ruger makes a great rifle and the Weatherby Vangaurd IMO looks to be a great gun!

Look to the Weatherby Vanguard. They are better rifles than the Remingtons and come with a 3 shot 1.5" accuracy guarantee when you use premium ammo. These are solid rifles made by Howa for Weatherby. The Vanguards come with a floor plate like a Remington BDL. The bolt is smooth and the trigger adjustable. Use the money you save to invest in quality mounts and optics.

I have been looking at getting either a 300 mag or 300 WSM and from what I have heard from a couple of gunsmith buddies of mine Savage makes one hell of a gun. When I looked on their website I found acouple different models for upper $400's to mid $500's. One guy told me that they will shoot 1/2" at 100yds right out of the box.

Savage does make a great rifle, little to be desired for looks with the barrel nut, but makes up for that with affordable accuracy. I own the 110fp L/E series in a 300 win mag, one of the best shooting rifles I own. I am able to put up 1 to 1.5 inch groups at 100yrds (still searching for that perfect load) its almost there.
