Gotcha, so in theory if you tighten it to the exact same spot(if that is possible) you will still be on.

Yes,
That is why I put locktight on mine cause I don't plan to switch barrels any time soon since I already have 410 in a Mdl 870 pump.

I won't put a sling on it unless I put in new studs to anchor to on the forarm.
