RE: What kind of scope would you use???
Welcome to the board Icelander, I have never heard of a ATN scope. My opinion is buy good glass for your rifle. The bargain brands end up costing more in the end.Leupold,Zeiss,Swarovski and Nikon make excellent quality optics. Be prepared to pay for this quality. There are so many brands to choose from. I would stay away from Tasco for several reasons. Quality and supposedly out or going out of business. I've heard several negitive reports about the Simmon's line.I don't know about the quality of the new Redfield's. Since the original Redfield went out of business back in 1997 there's been allot of changes. The old ones were excellent scopes. They are now made in Japan and no telling who's making them for Redfield. I think I would stick with a Leupold Vari XIII or one from Leupold's line.Leupold has scopes in different price ranges and have a Lifetime warranty. Ask around and compare the different makes and models. Then you can decide what fits your needs and (or) budget. Ruger Redhawk

RE: What kind of scope would you use???
I have used leupold bausch&lomb, ziess and swarovski and it comes down to what your budget will allow. At the bottom end I have a bausch&lomb 3200 3x9x40 on one of my practise guns that I believe to be the best buy in it's price range .Stepping up in price I like the ziess conquest 3x9 as it is clearer and brighter than any other in it's price range. If your budget is a little more generous it's hard to beat the clarity of the swarovski a-lines.I have the 3x10x42's mounted on all of my hunting rifles.I have used leupolds a lot and they are good scopes but I feel that they are no longer the best scopes in their respective price ranges.

RE: What kind of scope would you use???
Elite 3200 or 4200 for a reasonable priced scope. I use the 4200 on my ML and it has performed flawlessly, in many conditions & situations. I highly reccomend this scope for Moderate priced offering to any gun hunter. If money is less a concern, then Leupold is my suggestion, Vari X III is as solid as they come and you won't ever feel like you made a mistake buying this scope.
Make sure you use good rings and mounts with your next purchase, like burris or leupold. |
RE: What kind of scope would you use???
Depends what your budget will handle. It's better to spend more money on your scope and maybe a little less on your rifle. In optics you really get what you pay for so spend as much as you can stand and get quality. My choice would be a Leupold in 2.5x8, 3.5x10, or 4.5x14 depending on your personal preference and needs for magnification.

RE: What kind of scope would you use???
theres no dought its hard to beat a leupold but the elite series (4200&3200)from bushnell are great scopes for less then money then leupolds.to set the record straight on lazyarchers statement, baush&lomb and bushnell have always been one and the same.b&l had three lines of scopes, elite series - bushnell and banner.the elites being the top of the line and the banners being the bottom.b&h did some research and decided that every body was familier with the name bushnell and figured it was a good move to just name every thing bushnell.
