Never heard that. Savage, Winchester, Browning and more all load for them. I don't know how the barrel can be messed up unless a manufacturing problem at one of the companies. I also reload for one, and no problems there.

I believe there was some initial concern about chamber pressures with some WSM cartridges, but that seems to have been resolved without much further information.

I have heard of people calling them "barrel burners" or "throat burners" but I forsee no difference than any magnum.

I think I recall reading a few articles and threads over on http://shortmags.org about barrel issues and some problems with loads but those were all referring to WSSM not WSM. Do you have any links to articles or threads where these issues are mentioned?

Generally if you are using an extremely light/fast bullet in a barrel rifled tighter to stabilize larger heavier bullets, it will reduce the life of the barrel. If you do not shoot 100 rounds a day I wouldn't worry about it. If you shoot factory loads through a stock factory WSM rifle I would not worry about it. Careful what you read on the internet, watch the source of the information, there is A LOT of bunk out there. I have a Kimber 270 WSM and have no problems what so ever.
