RE: Rifle Hunting in Michigan
Well, I use a Remington 710 in .270 Win. I see a lot of other guys at the range with .270's along with the usual suspects like the .30-06, .308, and a lot of .30-30's. I've seen a couple of 7mm's but mostly the four I stated. I've noticed more .270's than the others though but that could be because that's what I'm shooting and that's what I'm more apt to notice.

Out of the "Old Guard" that taught me the ins & outs of the whitetail 7 out of 10 of em hunted 35's Most of those were the Remington model 141 pump. A few had Marlins and one had a 760. By the way Bilge, did alot of my time up in Iron River area, Stanley Lake. My aunt had a good size farm up there.

I use a Ruger M77 Mark II 308, but have also used 30-30 and 270's. They all have done the job real well, I'm partial to the 308 since it's the gun in my safe and the other's were friends guns.

Remington 700ML .50 cal muzzle loader with 350 grn Precision Rifle saboted bullets and 95 grn of 777. I live in southern MI, no centerfires allowed. Other wise I would own a H&R .243, it is enough for deer and is great for woodchucks and coyotes. Plus the recoil is moderate.

I carry my marlin 1895 in the woods and use a .25-06 in the farm county. There is a large group around here that believe the .25-06 is the last word in deer hunting. I see alot of 742/7400 .30-06 also .270 bolt actions seem to be popular.
