Need some advice on 243 bullet

My wife uses a savage 110 in 243 for deer. I've had her using remington core-lokts for the last 2 years. I've been talking to alot of people that are telling me that I should switch to the 95gr. Nosler BT. Is this really an adequate bullet for deer. I'm more worried about expansion than anything. I have used the BT's in my 280 in 140gr with no problems. Just wanted some input on the bullet for the 243.

I've never been a fan of the coreloks. I have always perfered the Sierra 100gr SBT that federal loads in thier premium line. I know a few guys that use the Nolser BT out of thier 243 and they really seem to like them. If you keep the shots in the ribcage the results will be devastating at ny reasonable range.

I have used the 243 in the past. I don't believe the BT to be a great deer bullet in the 243. I much prefer the 100 gr. Nosler Partition. It is available from Federal in its Premium line of ammo. The BT is good on broadside shots in the heart/lung area. I don't like it if you have to take a quartering shot or a head on shot. This is why I prefer the partition out of the 243.

Both the partition and the BT are great bullets. I belive that the partition is the better of the two for deer sized game. I have used both and never lost a deer. The partition will get you an exit wound more often than the BT as the bullet holds more weight thoughout expansion.

I agree that rib cage shots with the BT offer devistating results. On any of the "marginal" shots the partition may offer an edge of preformance.

Good luck hunting!

the core lokt is a great bullet for that. The only other ones id use are speer grand slam 100, barnes X, or nosler partition.

I agree with the Partition. On average it probably wont shoot groups as fancy as the BT, but it is usually just fine for the real world. Also you wont have to worry about trying to only hit the rib cage, a partition will go right through a shoulder and most likely out the other side.

I don't trust Corelokts in anything under 30 caliber. I have had too many of them fall apart. It is a shame because most guns shoot them well. I really like the Sierra GameKing 100 grain in a 243 Win. Federal loads them and 100 grain Nosler Partitions.
