I'm looking to purchase a Remington 700 model in a .30-06. Does any one have any thoughts about the quality of this gun? Also, is there really a difference between the 700 ADL and the 700 BDL? Thanks.

i have three of them, one in 270 cal, one in 280 cal, and one in 308. i think they are a great rifle.i think the difference in the adl and bdl might be in the woodwork and etching. i buy my guns to use, not just to look at.

Fit and finish is the main difference this includes wood finishing, checkering, deluxe comb and recoil pad in the BDL version. The ADL comes only in a blind magizine while the BDL comes standard with floor hinge plate or optional Detachable Magizine.
The 700 is an excellent rifle and extremely popular in the hunting world. Have owned a number of BDL (as I don't like Blind mags) and always been a solid choice IMO.

Really the big difference between ADL and BDL is the BDL has a floorplate and larger caliber selections. I prefer floorplates so I wouldn't even buy an ADL unless I was going to use the action as a donor. Great shooting guns after trigger is done..still don't like the fact the bolt doesn't lock when in safe and the stupid ISS system other then that a solid quality gun whose quality has gotten better in the last few guns I have looked at and purchased.

Left-handed Model 700's are only available in BDL configuration. Pretty rifles. Very pretty. Elegant, sleek, and deadly. I think putting a cheap scope on them is a Class-C misdemeanor in some states. (Just kidding.)

The .30-06 700 ADLcan handle all of my big game needs just fine. The BDL models are little bit nicer, but personally I can't justify spending more for a tool that will kill deer just as well as an ADL of the same caliber.

The difference between the adl and bdl is the blind magazine vs the hinged floorplate.I personally will not own a rifle with a blind magazine as the floorplate makes it so much quicker and simpler to load and unload.I only own one factory 700,that one being a 700vssf in 22-250 but all of my customs are built on 700 actions.
