RE: Most under rated?
Savage is a pretty much under rated gun.
Another under rated gun would have to be the Winchester M70 "push feed" models. They are great guns, but they don't have the "over valued," claw extractor. For most situations you don't need, nor ever will miss having the "claw!" The push feed models shoot just as good as other guns. The Remington 700 never had the claw extractor! It seems if you don't have it on a Winchester though, your gun isn't a good gun! |

MARLIN MR7 BOLT ACTION RIFLES
maybe not underated just not well known, Marlin didn't advertise well enough. see thread on Marlin High Power |
RE: Most under rated?
Savage for rifles, I'd like to say Tikka but even though I'm very impressed they need to age and "stand the test of time".
I love my Mossberg scattergun, I'm having my 1st problem now after 15yrs, but I'm sure its just a worn piece that would have happened with any gun thats seen the use mine has. |
RE: Most under rated?
Rifle...Savage
Shotgun...Mossberg I own 'em both and have not had any problems with either one. |
RE: Most under rated?
Why do I feel like I've done this before???
Rifle: Savage... Shotgun: hard to say...if I had to think of one probably the original Winchester Super X1...don't ask my opinion of Mossberg (kinda rattles you when somebody puts one down in a duck blind and it goes off). Gordon |
RE: Most under rated?
This is going to sound like a remington thread.
Rifle: Remington 760/7600. They just don't seem to get much respect yet most are very good shooters. Shotgun: Remington 870 Express. They just seem to take a beating and keep on going. |
RE: Most under rated?
Savage
Mossberg |
RE: Most under rated?
i dont think Savage is underrated. everyone knows they make great guns but maybe for the quality they are underpriced but thats ok with me. for rifles i think i would say NEF.
for pistols i would have said taurus a few years ago but now everyone knows there good to. |
RE: Most under rated?
I think it is the remington 760/7600 pump rifle. I have one that is very accurate that I wouldn't get rid of for anything. it is in 308. sj

RE: Most under rated?
I agree with wannabe redneck. Marlin and savage are hardcore under rated rifles. Just b/c they're sold at wally world doesn't mean that they are crap. I seriously considered purchasing a Savage 110 in .30-06 but opted for a ruger, and I've had nothing but Marlin before that, two .22lr's and a .44 mag, love all of them. I also think that Ruger is under rated by most people. It may not be as nice as a rem. 1100, or 700, but I can take out washington on a dollar bill at 375 yrds with mine, so it ain't doing to bad.
GOTTA LOVE THAT MARLIN MAGIC!!!! |
RE: Most under rated?
I also think that J.C. Higgins is a very under rated shotgun. I love my J.C. pump 12ga, and loved my single shot 20 before selling it to a friend who now loves it as much as I did. We'd both had and have had browning and/or winchester, and both of us think that the J.C.'s perform just as well.

RE: Most under rated?
MARLINS ..IF YOU DONT OWN ONE YOU CANT UNDER RATE IT IF YOU DO OWN ONE YOU KNOW BETTER ....I WOULDNT TRADE THE NEIGHBORS CAT ON A SAVAGE
|
RE: Most under rated?
rifle--- Ruger
shotgun ---- Remington 870. Sometimes more money isn't always better |
RE: Most under rated?
I own two savages, one was my fathers, and one of the reasons I bought my own. the price couldd't be beat for those of us who can''t afford the higher priced guns....
