Default 7mm-08 bullet weights

can anyone give me some insight?
I can only find 140 gr. bullets. I thought this caliber was available in multiple weights.
Is this not true?If available where can I find other weights. I do not handload.
thanx

I was under the impression that this cartridge was very popular unit I started looking at bullet weights, and as you mentioned I could only find 140 gr. bullets. I did find some 150 gr.sp from Federal sold by Cabela’s. If you have a 7mm-08 or intend on getting one you might have to consider reloading. The choice of bullets weight starts at 100 gr. and goes up to 175gr. Good luck..

What exactly are you looking for? The 140 grain bullet is probably the best all around 7mm weight out there and will do everything you need it to do. I experimented a little with a few other bullet weights in my 7mm-08 but went back to the 140s.

Thanx for the reply's.
I wanted to go shoot some groundhogs and thought the 140s were overkill. I guess I just thought there was more variety like with my 06. The caliber is new to me, I just got a TIKKA LITE SS in this caliber. topped with a ziess 3.5 - 10. I will just experiement which cartrige shoots the best. What is your opinion on fail safes versus silver tips.

It depends on what you are shooting.I prefer the 140 gr winchester ballistic tip for deer sized game.

Midway USA shows a 120 grain hollow point from Remington. That would be good for varmits. Chack them out. At this time they just show one box available.

140s overkill for groundhogs?? If the bullet shoots good in your rifle, there should be no problem. Dead is dead. Its better to hit em with a 140 than miss with a 120 - right?
I handload for the 7mm-08 and find the Cabela's 150 gr. SPCL to shoot pretty good in fornt of 46 gr of IMR4350.
