Default Since we seem to be on the subject of scopes and fit......

I have a question, I have .300 wm in a savages model 112 vss (heavy bench/varmint style barrel) I have a 6.5-20 x 50 leupold on it, high leupold mounts. With my butler creek flip cap on the objective the plastic touches the barrel, pretty tight actually. Is this something I should be worried about, I though about either cutting a chunk out of it or grinding it down, what do you guys think, will it matter?

I've had similar problems and always cut a notch in the bottom of the cover to eliminate contact. Also if forced on it can cause the cover to misshape, making it pop open unintentionally.

You don't want any part of your scope touching the barrel, and that includes your caps. Good luck.

It does matter, do like the others said...cut a notch out.
I have the same problem with 56mm and 60mm objectives...
